The Strand Arts Council proudly presents The West Virginia Dance Company for a community performance on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 7:00 pm.  This highly entertaining production will take place in the John Marshall High School Center for the Performing Arts.  Tickets may be purchased at the door - $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and senior citizens.

Thirty-two years ago, the West Virginia Dance Company was founded with the distinct purpose of enriching lives through dance.  Today the WVDC continues performing through a blend of entertaining and thought-provoking modern works that generate enthusiasm in audiences of all ages.  Highly trained and seasoned professionals make up the Company, whose repertoire includes pieces that are influenced by West Virginia's rich cultural heritage.  The WVDC is the only professional touring dance company in the history of the state.  It has performed extensively in West Virginia as well as 13 other states and Brazil.  Learn more about the West Virginia Dance Company at www.wvdanceco.com.

Fiesta de Arte!

The rich multicultural choreography of the WVDC, will serve as the main ingredient for an exciting partnership between the Strand Arts Council and Marshall County Schools.  The Strand Arts Council and Art Teachers from MCS will present a Student Art Showcase prior to the dance performance. The Student Art Showcase will feature an overview of Spanish-influenced student artwork.  Fiesta de Arte!, will be held in the lobby area of the JM Center for the Performing Arts. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Admission for this pre-performance event is free.
